Kathryn "Kay" Mary Nicholls, 59, of Traverse City passed away January 29, 2014 at Birchwood after a courageous battle with cancer.
Kay was born on February 21, 1954 in Dearborn to Jack and D. Patricia (Walsh) Nicholls.
Kay attended Our Lady of Sorrows High School and graduated from Farmington High School. She earned her Bachelors of Science Degree from Madonna University and entered the work force at age 17. She began her 32 year career with AAA as a medical claims manager.
In her spare time Kay enjoyed being with her friends and family. She also liked to play Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit and watch old movies. Kathryn was an avid reader and a huge supporter of Michigan sports especially the Tigers, Red Wings and Wolverines. She will be greatly missed for her excellent memory, good humor, and love for others.
Kay is survived by her children Jimmy and Lizzy, mother D. Patricia Nicholls - Walsh, siblings Bill (Cheryle) Nicholls, Jo-Ann Smith, Barbara (David) Stafford, Jim (Joanne) Nicholls, Peggy (Miles) Bentley, Steven (Judy) Nicholls, and Michael (Victoria) Nicholls, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Kay's life, led by Monsignor Thome, will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Interment will follow at a later date at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
