Obituary

Kelsey Carlysle Wiand, 35, formerly of California and Michigan passed away on August 11, 2025 in Philadelphia.

Kelsey was born on January 11, 1990 in Royal Oak. Beloved daughter of Dennis Lloyd and Karen Lynn (Kennedy) Wiand and sister of Dylan.

Kelsey was a gifted artist, musician, dancer, and humanitarian. Growing up, she enjoyed summers at the Interlochen Arts Academy, where she made many friends and honed her art and music abilities.
She graduated from Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills in 2008 and later earned her associates degree in fashion design from FIT in New York.

While living in Traverse City, she enjoyed working alongside her father in his environmental aerial drone business to protect our beautiful lakes. Later, Kelsey moved to California where she fulfilled her dream of living in the Golden State (and as close to David Lynch as possible.) Kelsey loved music and film and was a passionate artist with a keen sensitivity for detail. She was a beautiful, radiant, playful, light-hearted, and kind young woman who will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Her brother Dylan will always treasure her creative mentorship and their special bond.

Kelsey was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather John Kennedy and her paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Dorothy Wiand.

Kelsey is survived by her parents Dennis and Karen; brother Dylan; loving partner Kevin Cogill; Grandma Margaret Kennedy and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members, her special California family, Alex Rojas, his mother Regina Rojas, and Susie Rodriguez, her inspirational friend from FIT, Lindsey Navin, and Kelsey's cat, Edie.

A celebration of Kelsey's life will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 1 pm at the Gilbert Lodge at Twin Lakes Park, 6800 N Long Lake Rd, Traverse City, Michigan.

She will be laid to rest privately at Linwood Cemetery in Long Lake Township.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please consider paying it forward in Kelsey's honor. Buy someone a cup of coffee, pay for a stranger's dinner or give someone a hug who might need it (everybody needs a hug.)
