Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY- Kenneth "Ken" F. Cooledge, 74, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family. Ken was born on September 9, 1939 to the late Frederick and Lillian (Garey) Cooledge. Ken was born and raised on Old Mission Peninsula. He went to Mapleton Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1957. Ken attended Northwestern Michigan College and Western Michigan University. He married his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Lou (Bixby) Cooledge on August 22, 1964. Ken had been employed by the Traverse City U.S. Post Office for 36 years and he also drove BATA bus in Leelanau County for over nine years. Ken was a faithful member of St. Francis Catholic Church. Among his other interests Ken enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, traveling and following the Detroit Tigers.

Ken is survived by his wife, Mary Lou and two sons; Kevin Cooledge and Loren Cooledge, two grandchildren; Nicholas Cooledge and Emily Cooledge and a brother; Fred (Val) Cooledge of Texas. Also surviving are several brothers-in- law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the St. Francis Catholic Church at 11am with a visitation held one hour prior. Inurnment will take place privately at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
