TRAVERSE CITY - Kenneth Lee Hennrick, 85, of Traverse City, passed away at his home on Jan. 19, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 12, 1930 in Traverse City to the late Henry W. and Iva S. (Green) Hennrick. He attended kindergarten at the Perry Hannah House due to a fire in 1934 at Central School and later graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1949.
Kenneth married Helen Bush on July 22, 1950 in Traverse City and the couple celebrated 65 years of marriage and raised four children together.
Kenneth lived in Traverse City his entire life and was a member of the First Congregational Church. He was employed with Oleson and Kroger Food Stores and Carpenter Enterprise. He was a kind and generous man who loved family gatherings with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and being in the outdoors, golfing, boating, traveling and camping with his motor home, and playing with his Boston Terriers. He was a talented woodworker who loved making and giving gifts of his handcrafted projects.
He is survived by his wife Helen; daughters, Brenda (Joe) Garrity of Traverse City, Jeanne (Hennrick) Murcliffe of Port St. Lucie, FL.; sons, Kenneth (Maswe) Hennrick of Traverse City, Gerald Hennrick of Traverse City; grandchildren, Sarah and Tommy Garrity, Kenneth, Melissa and Heather Hennrick, Kari Murcliffe and Brandi Sail, Danielle Oswalt and Dana Hennrick; great grandchildren, Douglas Sail and Johnny Oswalt; and loving dog, Bootsie.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank and William Hennrick, Clayton Hennrick (infant); sister, Gwen (Hennrick) Gabourie.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 25, at First Congregational Church of Traverse City, with a visitation held one hour prior. A luncheon will be served following the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Kenneth's name may be made to the First Congregational Church Food Bank.
