Kenneth Edwin Mackey

Kenneth Edwin Mackey, 71, of Traverse City, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Munson Medical Center.

Ken was born on March 9, 1941 in Traverse City to the late Clarence and Sylvia
(St. John) Mackey. He was married to Joy Borucki on February 14, 1981 in Traverse City. She survives him.

Ken lived all of his life in the area, except for the nine years when he honorably served his country with the United States Army, during the Vietnam War. Ken founded Kenmark Inc., a successful family business and he also drove bus for the Traverse City Area Public Schools. When he was not working, Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his loving wife, Joy, three sons and his daughter; Troy Mackey, Michael (Lori) Beckwith, Norman (Jody) Mackey, Carman (Jim) Mexico, six grandchildren; Cody, Misty, Cory, Austin, Emily, Sam, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Betty Hentschel.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; June "Arlene" Thompson and Dora May Hentschel, also a brother, Russell Henry Mackey.

In accordance with Ken's wishes, cremation has taken place. Military Honors and a Celebration of Ken's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 1:00 at the Cherryland V.F.W. Post 2780, 3400 Veterans Dr., Traverse City.

Friends are welcome to visit with Ken's family on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 12:00 noon until the time of the 1:00 p.m. Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to, Cherryland V.F.W. Post 2780, 3400 Veterans Dr., Traverse City, MI 49684.
