Obituary

Kenneth R. Weitschat, 88, of Elk Rapids began the first hole of his eternal game on January 11, 2018 joining his wife, Margaret.
Ken was the son of the late Alfred and Mary (Hyne), born on February 6, 1929 in Detroit.
On March 10, 1951 he married the woman of his dreams and together raised three wonderful children and spent many days on the course together playing their favorite game.
Ken honorably served in the United States Naval Air Reserve for six years. He retired from General Motors in 1991, where he worked as a Benefits Administrator. Ken was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Elk Rapids, Elk Rapids Golf Club and a board member of the Historical Society at the Con Foster Museum. He sang with the Heart of the Hills Barber Shop Chorus in Rochester Hills and after retiring to the Traverse City area, he joined the Cherry Capital Barber Shop Chorus in Traverse City. He enjoyed both music and golf.
Ken is survived and missed dearly by his three children; Kimberly Pratt (Dan), Kristin Knight and Jeffrey (Pauline). He is also survived and missed by his grandchildren; Justin, Ryan (Meagan), Amanda, Matthew (Joyce), Christopher (Amy), AJ, Jacob and Cody. Also surviving are his great grandchildren; Liam, Emily, Kenzie, Kendal, Brooke, Mayce, Jace, Adeline, Brantley, Caitlin and Joey, as well as many beloved family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his beautiful bride and favorite golf companion, both of his parents and his brother Willard 'Bill'.
A memorial service to honor Ken's life will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Elk Rapids on January 20, 2018 at 11:00am with visitation and greetings one hour prior. Both Ken and Marge will be interred at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids.
