Kent Arthur Walton

Kent Arthur Walton, age 71, passed away unexpectedly at his home. Born March 30, 1955, to Arthur and Edwardine Walton, Kent lived a life marked by hard work, craftsmanship, adventure, and, above all, a deep devotion to his family and friends.

For 45 years, Kent shared a loving marriage with his wife, Beth Marie (Rasmussen) Walton. Together, they built a life filled with family, friendship, laughter, and countless memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Kent was a natural entrepreneur and a dedicated businessman whose strong work ethic and determination were evident throughout his career. He owned and operated Classic Cycle from 1982 to 1992, and later acquired and operated Molon Excavating, Inc. from 1998 to 2017. Through his businesses, Kent earned the respect and friendship of many colleagues, customers, and members of the community.

A true craftsman at heart, Kent found great joy in restoring and refinishing antique and classic boats. He was one of the original members of the Water Wonderland Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, where he shared his passion for antique and classic Chris-Craft and Dodge boats. He took tremendous pride in bringing these beautiful vessels back to their former glory. Kent and his work could be found at boat shows throughout the country, where he enjoyed traveling, meeting fellow enthusiasts, and sharing his knowledge and craftsmanship.

Kent’s interests extended well beyond boating. He enjoyed being a longtime member of the Traverse City Elks Lodge, snowmobiling, NASCAR racing, attending car auctions, and spending time outdoors. He especially loved bringing family and friends together. His beloved “man cave” became a gathering place where stories were told, laughter was shared, and many lasting memories were made.

Above all else, Kent cherished the people he loved. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Beth Marie Walton; his sister, Christine Walton; his children, Adam Walton, and Adam’s children, Chloe Walton and Colton Walton; Nicholas Walton; and Maeda Schroeder and her husband, Dustin Schroeder, and their son, Teddy Schroeder. He is also survived by his beloved poodles, Paris, Ginger, and Gracie, as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

Kent leaves behind a legacy built not only through the businesses he operated and the beautiful boats he restored, but through the friendships he nurtured, the generosity he showed, and the countless lives he touched along the way. He will be remembered for his strong character, hardworking nature, sense of humor, generosity, craftsmanship, and zest for life.

Though his unexpected passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, the memories Kent created and the love he shared will remain forever. His life was a testament to the importance of family, friendship, hard work, and making the most of every moment. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2026, from 11:00 am until the Memorial Service at 12:00 pm at the Traverse City Elks Lodge #323.
