Kevin T. Kent, 72, of Traverse City, left for his heavenly home on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Green Acres AFC where he resided over 35 years.
Kevin was born on April 14, 1942, to the late James and Dorothy (Banks) Kent in Chicago, IL.
An Rh factor incompatibility at birth, resulted in several mental and physical impairments; however, he attended the Rose Kennedy Developmental School near Chicago to learn activities of daily living. He was a docile, sweet person with a vivid memory. During occasional episodes of anxiety, he would surprise everyone with his knowledge of "four letter words."
A lover of nature, Kevin enjoyed sitting by the bay watching the boats and the seagulls. He enjoyed television, especially cartoons as well as listening to music. In the 1970's, Kevin loved his beagle, Charlie; and always enjoyed smiling and laughing with his family and friends.
Kevin is survived by his sister, Mary Chapman of Escanaba, his sister in law, Luci Kent of Flushing as well as a niece and several nephews. He is also survived y his dedicated "family" at Green Acres. Keven was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim.
Special thanks to Dr. Elizabeth Elliot for her dedicated concern for Kevin's health and well being, to Father Tony Curitan for his spiritual insight and compassion; and Alexander Kent (grand-nephew) for sharing many outings with Kevin.
Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with the Rosary being prayed at 7:30 P.M. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday, April 30 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Jim Hayden presiding.
Memorial contributions may be directed to The Father Fred Foundation.
