Obituary

INTERLOCHEN — Kevin James Leach, 28, of Interlochen, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at his home. Born Oct. 14, 1981, in Traverse City, he was the son of Kelly James and Sheryl Lynne (Liebetrau) Leach. A 2000 graduate of Traverse City West Senior High School, Kevin was attending and doing well at Northwestern Michigan College, where he was studying Radio Communication, aspiring to be a Radio D.J. He really loved being a student again and getting to talk on the air at W-NMC as K-rock. He was so excited and happy to let people hear his voice and be involved with music. He currently was working as a cook at Giovanni's Roadhouse; he loved working with his hands, and preparing food was one of his greatest passions.Kevin was a very active person who enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, disc golfing, snowboarding and all water sports. He was emotional about music and was a well known movie buff; two of his favorites were the Deadwood Series and Lost.He was quite the jokester who relished in making others laugh. His big heart, coupled with his kindness to others is what made him an incredible human being. His presence will be truly missed by his family who so dearly loved him and many caring friends. As his family stated, "Kevin, we can hear you singing from up above right now. Even though it is tough down here, we can still see and feel your support. We will always remember you, Kevin, and how great you were. So smile and keep watch over us because the Lord just got a new angel."He will be fondly remembered as a good man, a great friend, the best brother and even a stellar son. Kevin is survived by his dad and mom, Kelly and Sheri Leach of Buckley; two brothers, his twin, Christopher Leach and Sean Leach, both of Traverse City; paternal grandmother, Bonnie Leach of Kendallville, Ind.; maternal grandfather, Richard Liebetrau of Cadillac; along with a large family of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends he made along life's highway. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jerry Leach; and his maternal grandmother, Delores Liebetrau. The Leach family will receive friends at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Thursday, July 22, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2010, at St. Mary's of Hannah Catholic Church, 2912 West M-113, Kingsley, with the Rev.
