Larry Eugene Lawson, 73, of Maple City passed away August 29, 2019 at his home.
Larry was born on October 18, 1945 in Traverse City to the late Glendon and Eugenia "Jean" (Peplinski) Lawson.
Larry served our country honorably as a member of the United States Army.
On August 21, 1965 Larry married Shirley Ann Zientek at St. Rita-St. Joseph Church.
He was a barber for over 45 years, beginning his career in 1973. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating. He also enjoyed bowling with Shirley in their couples league. He had a meticulous eye for detail and enjoyed detailing automobiles. He also loved photography. Larry cherished his cocker spaniel Shorts who gave him great companionship and love.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dennis.
Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley; brothers Lee (Peg), Jim, Leonard (Lou) and Tom (Cindy); sisters Marcia Edinger and Marie Corwin and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The rosary will be prayed at 7 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior at St. Rita-St. Joseph Church in Maple City. Graveside services will follow at St. Rita-St. Joseph Cemetery where he will receive full military honors.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flower may be directed to the Cedar Rescue Unit, the Cherryland Humane Society or to St. Rita-St. Joseph Church.
