Larry Muzzarelli

October 25, 1927 — September 5, 2020

Larry Muzzarelli, 92, of Lake Ann passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on September 5, 2020.

Larry was born on October 25, 1927 in Detroit to the late Otto and Lillian (Miller) Muzzarelli. He was the fourth in line in the loving family that included Eda, Walker, Elmer, Betty and Arthur. Larry was preceded in death by his siblings.

On May 1, 1947 Larry married Harriet Ellen Beckwith. Married 73 years, they built a life full of love and laughter that was an inspiration to their family and friends.

Larry was very active in the community. He was a Boy Scout troop leader in Warren, MI in the early 60's. In 1966 Larry and his family moved to Traverse City, where he owned and operated Northern Stainless Fabricating until 1984, with his partner Ken Martin. He served as the Traverse City Mayor in 1980 and 1981, was the president of the Chamber of Commerce, and was a long time Rotarian and served as director. He and Harriet were also members of the Traverse City Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf and served as the club President.

In his spare time he enjoyed building things, remodeling, playing golf and cards with many good friends and bocce ball. He was known for being able to fix anything. He once built a double A-framed cottage, by himself, in 14 days and it still stands today. He was a great teacher and mentor to his entire family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Harriet; their children Mary Ellen (Ron) Brown of Lake Ann, Bruce (Mary) Muzzarelli of Lake Ann and Judy (Michael) Stott of Cartersville, GA; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

The family will celebrate his life at a later date.

Memorial contributions in his honor may be directed to Heartland Hospice or Munson Healthcare who both took great care of Larry.
