TRAVERSE CITY - Larry Allen (L.T.) Thomas, 65, Traverse City, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016.
He was lovingly known as "Daddy-O" by his daughter BobbiJo, and "Grandpa-Dad" by grandson T.J.
Larry was born on December 10th, 1950 in Traverse City and was a life-long area resident. He retired from Cone Drive Industries after 42 years as a machinist. He was a Life Member of the Friends of the A.M.L., a Life Member of the V.F.W. 2780 Auxiliary, and a member of the Eagles 383. He received the Member of the Year Award from the Friends of the A.M.L. in 1995. Larry was also presented with a distinguished volunteer award from the Veterans of Foreign Wars in 2005. He was an avid outdoors-man who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and enjoyed bowling and golf where he once shot a hole-in-one.
Larry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Fay L. (Petroskey) Thomas, daughter BobbiJo (Thomas) Babik, son Mark and wife Jillian Thomas, Gwen Roush, the mother of his children, and grandchildren Kaylin, Leah and T.J. Babik and Reyann Thomas. Also surviving are his parents Ernest Allen Thomas, and Lucille Marie (Gauthier) Thomas, brothers Jerry (Glenna) Thomas, Jimmy (Shirley) Thomas, brother-in-law Joe Ricket, mother-in-law Mary Lee Egeler, his best buddy Candy, and many friends. He was predeceased by his sister Linda Ricket.
A memorial celebration luncheon will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016, at the VFW on Veteran's Drive, Traverse City. Any memorials may be directed to the VFW Post 2780, 3400 Veterans Dr. Traverse City, MI 49694.
The family is being cared for by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
