Lavinia (Lovie) Moss passed away January 18, 2025. After almost 97 years of a life well lived, she passed peacefully from her time on this earth to begin her next glorious chapter with our Lord.
Born April 1928 in Suttons Bay as one of eight children to Irene and Rudolph Schaub. In 1951 she married Robert Moss, and they lived together in Interlochen until his death in 2003. Together they had 4 children, Marilyn Mero who proceeded her in death in 2020, and Loretta Pratt (David) of Lansing, Gary (Melissa) of Interlochen, Glenn (Martha) of Caro.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Francis, Sylvester, Celestine, Laverne, and sisters Agnes and Irene, brother Raymond survives. She is also survived by 4 Grandchildren, Robert (Rylee), Daniel (Laura), Sarah (Lewis), Julius (Hattie), 9 Great Grandchildren, Paige, Ashleigh, Lily, Angeleya, Lovie, David, Jack, Sleder, and Bowman.
She cherished family gatherings for Holidays and sometimes just for fun. After her marriage, she operated her own beauty salon (Vanity Beauty Shop) for over 10 years. She then worked at Interlochen Center for the Arts until her retirement in 1990. For the next 13 years she and Bob worked together on their home and gardens in Interlochen. She loved her flowers and shade garden and feeding her wild birds, not so much the occasional bear. She also was an accomplished quilter and she gifted us with many beautiful quilts that will be cherished forever. Her Catholic faith and being with her family brought her much joy and peace each day. Her keen insights of life and her quick wit brought her family joy and laughter.
A Catholic Mass will be celebrated this Friday, January 24, 2025 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Noon, visitation will be preceding at 11:00 and there will be a reception immediately following Mass. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to a Charity of one's choice.
Mom we will always love and miss you. We look forward to the day when we can once again be together.
