Lawrence Holdridge Boyd IV
Traverse City – Lawrence Holdridge Boyd IV, 32, of Traverse City died a hero on November 15, 2025 in a senseless tragedy. He will be so deeply missed.
Larry was born on July 2, 1993 in Port Charlotte, Florida. He graduated Magna cum laude from Traverse City West Senior High School in 2011. He went on to study at NMC and then graduated from Ferris State University, also with honors in the Criminal Justice Program.
Larry loved to spend time in the great outdoors. He loved to go kayaking, mountain biking and hiking. He also liked to work out, cheer on the Detroit Lions, play video games and had a soft spot in his heart for children and animals. He was a police officer, teacher and most recently worked for the City of Traverse City Parking Services. In his last act of courage, he attempted to stop criminals while working and was ruthlessly taken from this world way too soon. He will never be forgotten.
Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert and Helen Boyd, Robert LeRoy and Ruthann Horner; aunt Kim Hayter; uncle Kent LeRoy, aunt Linda Boyd and stepfather Jeremy Hooper.
Larry is survived by his father Lawrence Boyd III and mother Kristina Hooper; stepmom Karen Boyd; girlfriend Amanda Evans and her children Sierrah and Austin; uncles and aunts Robert Boyd, Christopher (Karen Serra)Boyd, Lynda (Dean) Rocheleau and Kathy Knowles; cousins Nicole Broderick, Robert Boyd, Chase, Patrick and Katelyn Rocheleau, Adam Wilson and Tyler Knowles and Luke LeRoy; step grandparents Kurt and Valerie Jogwick. He is also survived and will be missed by countless friends and extended family members.
The funeral honoring his life will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Mission Hill Church in Traverse City at 11 am.
Memorial contributions in his honor may be directed to Project Feed the Kids or to Cherryland Humane Society.
