Lawrence Joseph DeVergilio, 87, of Elk Rapids, MI passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.
Larry was born on February 6, 1937, in Detroit, MI to the late Joseph and Ann (Dyc) DeVergilio. He married his high school sweetheart, Ann Maurer, on April 26, 1958, and together they shared a loving union of 58 years.
Larry was a life-long car enthusiast and avid boater and fisherman. He enjoyed keeping busy, whether it was tending to the yard, tinkering in his workshop, or taking long bike rides around the subdivision and visiting with neighbors.
Above all else, spending time with his family was his greatest joy. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann, and his sister, Kathleen Hartmus. He is survived by his children, Gerry (Nancy) DeVergilio, Laurie (Denny) Gretel, and John (Janet) DeVergilio, as well as six grandchildren: Adam DeVergilio, Kaitlyn (Eric) Bloink, Drew and Emily Gretel, and Mathew and Hannah DeVergilio.
Larry lived a life full of love, hard work, and simple joys. He will be remembered for his genuine kindness, delightful sense of humor, and the love he had for those around him.
Friends are welcome to visit with Larry's family at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
