Lawrence "Larry" "Sarge" F. Bruckner or Mr. B to most, 86, of Cedar passed away in his sleep on October 9, 2020 at his home with his loving family at his side.
Mr. B was born on August 29, 1934 at the family farm in Cedar. He was born to the late Sylvester and Alice (Brzezinski) Bruckner. He attended and graduated from the Holy Rosary School in Cedar. Larry married the love of his life Dorothy M. Rosinski on May 11, 1957 in Maple City. Together they lovingly raised two wonderful children, Lory and Daryl.
Honorably Larry served our Country in the United States Army in the 182nd Transportation Division. He earned his nickname "Sarge" from his time being in the local Army Reserves. He retired after 23 devoted years where he spent time with friends and family at the VFW Post 2780, Eagles 383, the AML and other various groups.
After his time in active service he went to work doing many jobs. Larry worked at Cone Drive Gears as a HiLo Driver until his retirement in 1995. During this time he also worked for Phil's Welling Drilling.
Mr. B was a member and an usher at the St. Francis Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Cedar Chamber of Commerce. He volunteered at the Cedar Polka Festival for many years, and enjoyed helping Pan Franek and Zosia at their annual polka weekend for 24 years.
In his younger days he enjoyed blooper ball, softball and basketball. He loved Polka dances, polka parties and would sing polka tunes. Nothing brought him more joy than to play "his polka music".
Surviving Larry is his wife Dorothy of 63 devoted years of Leelanau County, children Lory Boone of Zeeland and Daryl Bruckner of Traverse City, grandchildren, Joshua Boone and Alyssa and Logan Mericle; 5 great grandchildren; siblings Barb Bruckner, Bernie Jessee, Marilyn (Bill) Esch, Fred (Tammy) Bruckner, Gerard Bruckner, Michael (Diane) Bruckner, Ed Bruckner, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Kay Waldecker, Sylvester Bruckner, and Joe Bruckner.
