Leda Beatrice King, 97, longtime resident of Traverse City passed away April 7, 2021 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Leda was born on October 15, 1923 in Hunter Town, IN to the late Francis N. and Alta L. (Englert) Crowell.
In 1942, Leda married the love of her life, Mr. William "Bud" King in Indiana. Together they shared 56 years of marriage before he passed in 1997.
Leda made and sold wood lawn ornaments. She also volunteered at the Senior Center for over 30 years and was a devoted member of the Mayfield Chapel. She loved going to church. She also loved going to the Casino and greatly enjoyed her annual trips on her birthday to play the Penny Slots. She was a fantastic baker and was famous for her cherry pies. She also liked to bowl, dance and play bingo. Above all else, she loved and cherished her family, especially her great grandkids who she loved to spoil with treats.
Leda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Roberta, Owen, June, Doris and Dean; daughter Kris Price; son Robert King; and granddaughter Breanna Kevwitch.
Leda is survived by her foster daughter Sharon Clover; brother Orville and sister Deloris; grandchildren Cierrea Kevwitch, JayLynn Price, Keith Price and Rachael Price; and great grandchildren Jaydon, Reece, LayLani, Andrew Jr., Sterling, Delsin, Lincoln and Bryan.
The visitation will be held on Monday, April 12 from 5 – 7 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will also be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 11 am with visitation beginning one hour prior. Graveside services will follow at Platte Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Leda's honor may be directed to the Mayfield Chapel or to the Cystic Fibrosis Association.
