LeRoy "Lee" Mazurek, age 58, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at his home in the loving care of his family and the caregivers of Munson Hospice, after cancer related complications.

Lee was the dear husband of Caryn and the beloved father of Ryan. Lee was born in Ontonagon, MI, the son of Casimir and Anna Mazurek Richmond and was the stepson of Bud Richmond.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather and brother Thomas. He leaves behind his loving wife Caryn, son Ryan and his loyal dog Hershey. Also his brother Ronald (Peggy) Mazurek, sister Karen (Jim) Anderson, sister Paulette (Vance) Hogen, sister-in-law Luella Hall, Tom's wife, brother-in-law Ken (Fiancée Cindy Seavey) Pallas, brother-in-law Daryl (Joni) Pallas, as well as nine nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Lee moved from Ontonagon to the Detroit area, where he worked for The Detroit News and Free Press for 30 years. In 2010, Lee and his family moved to Traverse City where he enjoyed the beauty of northern Michigan.

Lee enjoyed skiing, boating and working on home improvement projects. His favorite time was spent watching Ryan play soccer, basketball and lacrosse.

Visitation for friends and family will take place at St. Francis Catholic Church, 1025 S. Union, Traverse City from 12-2pm on Thursday, May 30, 2013. Mass will be held also at the church at 2pm. Fr. Kenneth Stachnik will serve as celebrant and Deacon Rene Hoenschied will assist. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation in Traverse City.
