Lila Johana Cain of Traverse City, Michigan, formerly of Clawson, MI, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2023.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 24th, 1933, the first child of William and Marion Pedlar.
Lila married Maurice Cain, Jr. on February 4, 1950. She was widowed on January 23, 1996, and did not remarry.
Lila loved sewing and was a seamstress for many years for Singer Sewing Company and Cintas, Inc.
In later years, she worked as an aide for American House Senior Living Facilities.
She raised three children, Maurice Cain III, born in 1950, Susan Cain, born in 1954, and William Cain, born in 1963.
Lila is survived by William (Bethany) Cain; her only grandchild, Emily Cain, of Portland, Oregon; her only sibling, Judy Abel, of Trenton, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews around the country.
Lila attended the Bible Baptist Church in Traverse City. She enjoyed the numerous friendships made and sharing of faith with her bible study groups.
The family would like to commend The Pavilions of Grand Traverse County for their excellent staff and loving care through her long battle with dementia.
A small private tree planting ceremony will be held on her 90th birthday, September 24th, 2023.
