Lila May Campbell, 84, a life-longTraverse City resident, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.
Lila was born on Friday, February 21, 1930 to the late David and Clarissa (Roo) Chandler in Grand Rapids and moved to Traverse City when she was six months of age. She attended and graduated from Traverse City Schools, and on Saturday, February 26, 1955, she married Richard William Campbell at First Congregational Church.
Lila had been an operator at Michigan Bell prior to her marriage, and had most recently been employed as an admitting clerk at Munson Medical Center prior to the birth of her daughter. Lila loved to work jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed camping.
She is survived by her husband Richard, her daughter Linda Doornbos of Traverse City, her granddaughters, Heather, Jennifer and Katie, one great granddaughter, Ali Hensley; a sister, Tari (Larry) Moore of Traverse City and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John Chandler and her infant son, David.
Visitation will take place from 5 pm until 7 pm Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015 also at the funeral home, with Pastor Justin Grimm officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
