Lillian Pykosz

Lillian Pykosz, age 88, of Empire, Michigan went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 12, 2017 with her loving family by her side at Brookcrest Nursing Home in Grandville, Michigan.

Lillian was born on January 15, 1929 in Detroit. She was class secretary at St. Ladislaus High School in Hamtramck, Michigan. After graduation Lillian was a supervisor at AT&T. On February 2, 1952, Lillian married the love of her life Stanley. They had 62 wonderful years together. Stanley battled dementia the last few years of his life and Lil provided loving care by his side until his passing in 2014.


Lillian and Stan lived in the Detroit suburbs for many years, and then retired in Empire for 25 more years. Lil's utmost joy came from loving and nurturing her family. Her home will always be remembered as a place for love, laughter, and gatherings. Other interests included bowling, gardening, rooting for the Detroit Tigers, an occasional trip to the casino, and living "up north". She touched all our lives in so many ways and will be lovingly missed.

Lillian is survived by her children, Tom (Nancy) Pykosz, Ken (Jo) Pykosz, Bob (Kim) Pykosz, and Deb (Gary) Yost; grandchildren, Patti (Brad) Rudner, Tom (Erica) Pykosz, Jamie (John) Miller, Jessica Pykosz, Paige (Nick) Davis, Melissa Yost and fiancé Jon Hubbard, and Jacob Pykosz; her great-grandchildren, Thomas, Andrew, Lillian, Emily, and Brynn; her sisters Betty Skorupski and Marge Borucki; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley W. Pykosz, her parents Joseph and Julia Czmolak, and a sister, Rita Rzepka.

Visitation will be held from 5-8pm with a rosary prayed at 8pm at. St. Philip Neri Church in Empire on Sunday, June 18, 2017. Mass will take place at 11am on Monday June 19 also at the church with a visitation held one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church Empire, MI.
