Linda Lou Gleason, 76, of Traverse City passed away March 31, 2018 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions with her family by her side.
Linda was born on March 21, 1942 in Lansing to the late Herbert and Cora (Coon) Jones.
Linda was a bank teller for nearly 30 years. She worked in Lansing prior to moving her family to the area in 1970. She spent her kid's preteen years as a stay at home mom then returned as a teller to Old Kent and Grand Traverse State Bank until she retired. She would often bring home special and unique coins from the bank for her grandchildren. In her spare time Linda enjoyed traveling and camping with family and friends. Linda adored her cats and loved to cuddle with them on the couch. In her younger years she enjoyed playing tennis and sailing. She thoroughly loved living here in Northern Michigan and often volunteered as an ambassador for the National Cherry Festival. She cherished her family and loved spending holidays and birthdays together. She had a sensational sweet tooth and always had a cupboard stocked. On more than one occasion ice cream was the main course for dinner. She was always quick to share her love of sweets with her grandkids and introduced them all to one of her favorites, Nutty Bars. Linda had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and giggle, even in her later years as she lived with Alzheimer's. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Connor Alexander Gleason.
Linda is survived by her sons Trenten (Darlene) of Fife Lake and Brett (Shelly) of Empire; grandchildren Skylar, Caleb, Ethan, Emmie and Tyler (Bree); great grandson Riley Bo; brother Robert (Diane) Jones of Lansing; and the father of her sons David Gleason.
The memorial service celebrating Linda's life will be held on Saturday April 14, 2018 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning one hour prior at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
