Linda Kay Redmond, 70, of Traverse City, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Upon learning that her time was limited, family and friends came to her side to celebrate her irreplaceable love and light that she shared with all.
Linda Kay Burns was born on April 10, 1953 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Robert and Kay (Livingston) Burns.
Linda met the love of her life, John M. Redmond, Jr. in 1974. As the couple always says, "Oh thank heaven for 7-11", which was where they met. Linda immediately knew that John was the one, and then informed him that they would have 5 children. As always, Linda was right, as the couple shared 47 years of marriage and raised 5 children; they held hands until the very end.
Linda graduated from Saginaw High School in 1971. In her youth, Linda was a Job's Daughters Honored Queen. She later became a Nurse's Assistant with St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw where she met her best friend, Gladys Hammond.
In 1986, Linda and John moved their young family to Traverse City, where together they established and continue to operate Redmond Superservice. Linda enjoyed gardening, bird and butterfly watching, knitting, reading, and playing cards with family and friends. She also loved to cook and dance. Above all, spending time with her family and grandchildren was her greatest joy.
Linda was an unofficial foster mom, helping to raise many children and young adults over the years. Her doors and arms were always open. She was a channel of reason and compassion for anyone who needed it. Linda taught us how important it is to love one another, no matter their circumstance. Her motherly mantra was to notice who needs support the most and wrap around them to get them through.
Linda is survived by her best friend and husband John, three sons and two daughters; Michael Redmond, Katie (Anthony) Gallagher, Daniel (Tristy) Redmond, Tillie (Cody) Hill and Jacob (Clarissa) Redmond. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Kylie, Dominic, Gabriel, Jackson, Abella, Audrina, Braydon, Cohan and Elsie. She leaves three brothers and two sisters; Gary (Linda) Burns, James (Sue) Burns, Debbie Martin, Michael (Karen) Burns and Pam Burns, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, John's parents, John and Fran Redmond, Linda's best friend Gladys, John's sister, Mary Frances, and two grandchildren, Anthony Jr. and Emma Gallagher.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jamshid Amanzadeh, Promedica Hospice, her dialysis medical team as well as the Nursing Staff of Munson Medical Center for their professionalism and empathy.
