Linda Marie Stewart

Linda Marie Stewart, 77, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Linda was born in Traverse City on August 17, 1947, to Benjamin Chupp and Leota Lachniet.
Linda will be remembered for her big heart and gentle, soft-spoken ways. She dedicated 20 years of her career to social work with the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, where she was deeply committed to helping Tribal families remain united. Her work often focused on finding and fostering the strength within family bonds. A proud Tribal Elder, Linda cherished her Native heritage and worked tirelessly to serve her community.
She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Cherryland Post 2780.
Linda created and volunteered with numerous programs supporting families and children, her passions extended beyond her community work. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and enjoyed ceramics and traveling. Her favorite destination was Cozumel, where she spent vacationing with her family, indulging in ceramics, shopping, swimming with dolphins, sailing on pirate ships, and exploring the island.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Fern Chupp; her brother, Terry; her sister, Connie; and her grandson, Dillon.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Bonnie) Stewart, Trina Pfau, and Alisha (Les) Wormell; her grandchildren, Michael, Tasha, Chad, Savannah, Lenzy, Dale, Julia, Grant, and Noah; 13 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Leonard, Bonnie, Jerry, and Bruce.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning one hour prior, at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. For those unable to attend, the service will be available for viewing at

Graveside services will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 12 noon at Oakwood Cemetery.
