Linda Ruth West, 75, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend died on August 3, 2017 at Munson Medical Center following a brief an illness. Linda was born on March 7, 1942 in Springfield, TN.

Linda graduated from Springfield High School. Following high school she served in the Air Force. She later went on to earn a degree from Northwestern Michigan College.

On Valentine's Day, 1968, she married the love of her life, the late Stephen Matthew West of Santa Barbara, CA. In 1971 they visited Northern Michigan and fell in love with it. They returned in 1973 to settle in the area and raise a family. Linda enjoyed a career of working with people including working for many years as a medical billing specialist. She retired from the local Area Agency on Aging.

Linda had a warm, caring personality and her greatest joy were her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. She loved to tell stories of her life experiences and share her wise ways of the world. She attended Saint Francis Church in Traverse City and lived her life walking hand in hand with our Lord.

Linda is survived by two children Ruth Ann (Jason) Sheets, Richard (Monica) West, five grandchildren, Tyler Williams, Allison Sheets, Nora West, Ilene West and Rachel Boynton. She is also survived by three sisters Helen Faye (Don) Harp, Deborah Jane; Cammie Joyce (Wayne) Griswold, and one brother William George (Paula) Gregory and many other very special cousins, nieces, nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 48 years, Stephen West, two brothers, William R. Gregory, Jr., William Hurley Gregory, three sisters, Mary Magdalen, Vista Marie and Engola Sue Morris and a special furry friend, Tula.

A memorial service for Linda and Stephen will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 3 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2 p.m., at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Deacon Rene Hoenscheid will officiate.
