TRAVERSE CITY — Lloyd M. Woodcox, 59, of Traverse City, unexpectedly passed away from this life to greet his savior and loved ones in heaven early Wednesday morning, Jan. 5, 2011. Born May 23, 1951, in Traverse City, he was the son of the late Lloyd "Ike" and Orpha (Couturier) Woodcox. On Aug. 21, 1976, in Traverse City, he married the former Trudie G. Steinberg. Their marriage took place at the Steinberg's home on Cedar Run Road under the big, old crab apple tree."Woody", as he was referred to by his friends, retired from Cone Drive Gears on Oct. 1, 2009, after 35 years of employment. He was a longtime active member of New Hope Community Church, where he enjoyed participating in church plays and musicals.Lloyd's interests were vast and varied, and included fishing, bowling, and singing and dancing in the kitchen while cooking. He always viewed his shopping trips to Meijer as his big social event of the day.Woody will be fondly remembered as a true family man, a wonderful father and role model to his children, a loyal friend and a great practical joker.Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Trudie, of Traverse City; children, John Robert Woodcox, Kimberly Joyce Woodcox and Dawn Marie Woodcox; two grandchildren, Erika Christine Woodcox and Brandon Nicholas Woodcox; siblings, Ivan "Joe" (Shelly) Woodcox, John (Verna) Woodcox, Jim (Gayle) Woodcox, Mark (Claire) Woodcox, Clay Woodcox and Laura Dawn Taylor Furlong; along with many nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be held at New Hope Community Church, 5100 Bethesda Court, Williamsburg, today, Jan. 8, 2011, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Joe Bradray officiating.Those wishing to extend an expression of sympathy may consider a gift to the Fr.
