Lois Marie Clous

August 2, 1932 — May 24, 2018

Lois Marie Clous beloved wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 24, 2018. She was 85 years old.

Lois was born August 2, 1932 to Earl and Freda (Bey) Kauffman in Alpena, MI. She married Francis "Fritz" Clous on June 6, 1953. Lois received her Practical Nurse degree, but her family was very important to her and she enjoyed being a wife and mother.

She had great faith and loved her church very much. She believed in the power of prayer and the guidance of our Saints and Angels. Her love for the Angels showed as they adorned many places of prominence throughout their home

Lois was always baking and cooking. She was especially known for her chocolate chip cookies and growing up her kids could always count on something fresh out of the oven when they got home from school. She enjoyed baking round loaves of bread, pies, canning fruits and vegetables, making caramel corn and was a talented seamstress. She loved to watch the Price is Right gameshow. She ran a hotdog and hamburger stand at the Buckley Old Engine Show for many years, with all of the proceeds being donated back to the Show.

She is survived by her husband Fritz Clous of Kingsley; daughters Connie (Jerry Kammerer) Clous of Sundance, WY, Raelene (Rick) Warfield of Grawn, Jill (Robert) Cole of Kingsley; sons William (Toni) Clous of Kingsley, Ronald (Eileen) Clous of Grawn, Keith (Leslie O'Dwyer) Clous of Kingsley and Brian (Jean) Clous of Traverse City; brothers Richard (Dorothy) Kauffman, Howard (Joan) Kauffman and Thomas (Dusty) Kauffman; 18 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; and her special nephew Fr. William Beuth of Guatemala.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Elaine Allen.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Father Greg McCallum and Deacon Rene Hoenscheid will officiate the service.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of Lois' doctors, nurses and caregivers for their loving and compassionate care for Lois over the years. A special note of thanks to the Blair Township EMT staff for their professionalism and support.

Those wishing an expression of sympathy are encouraged to direct contributions to the Carmelite Monastery, 3501 Silver Lake Road, Traverse City, MI 49684.
