Lois Johanna Lahti, 81, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on June 23, 2023 at French Manor. Lois was born on June 8, 1942 in Highland Park to the late Paul V. and Esther (Wallo) Lahti.
Lois graduated from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit and worked as a Registered Nurse for forty years. She began her career at Children's Hospital in Detroit, and was promoted to head nurse for the operating room. She moved to Traverse City in 1981 to work at Osteopathic Hospital as operating room supervisor, and later at Munson Medical Center until she retired.
Lois had an independent spirit and was proud of her Finnish heritage. She spoke fondly of her childhood spent in the upper peninsula at her grandparents' farm. Lois loved animals and, throughout her life, had many cherished pets.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gerald (Linda) Lahti.
Lois is survived by her siblings Kenneth (Diane) Lahti and Sharon (the late Walter) Herman; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will celebrate her life privately.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a humane society for the benefit of animals.
