TRAVERSE CITY – Lois E. Makowski, age 97, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Boardman Lake Glens-Highlander.
Lois was born in Beulah, MI on June 28, 1920 to Alfred and Minnie Taylor. Lois lived in Beulah, Flint, Florida, and Holland prior to moving to the Traverse City area.
Lois loved her family and was particularly proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful caregiver and was always there to lend a helping hand; she was also a dedicated volunteer at various organizations. Lois loved to bake and was known for her pies, she also enjoyed gardening, knitting, and spending time with her family and friends.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Sally (John) Ellinger, Traverse City, son, Steven (Sara) Makowski, Detroit, grandchildren; Brigette (John) Makowski, Rebecca (John) Woell, Nathaniel (Esther) Makowski, William Makowski, Justin (Ellyn) Makowski, Emily Makowski, and Zachary Makowski, great-grandchildren; Justus Woell, Oscar Woell, and Micah Makowski. Lois was also survived by her dear friend, Nelson Leach.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John F. Makowski, son, John C. Makowski, and second husband, Charles "Max" Flowerday.
A Memorial Service for Lois will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Central United Methodist Church with a visitation one hour prior. Pastor Chris Lane will officiate.
