Lois Elaine Meagher, 91, of Traverse City and formerly of Pontiac passed away peacefully Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Arbor House on Old Mission Peninsula.
Lois was born on October 15, 1920 to the late Samuel and Myrtle (Hayes) Kirby in Duluth, MN.
At a tender age Lois met a childhood friend that became the love of her life and in 1939 she entered into marriage with Peter Meagher II in Rockford, IL.
Peter and Lois relocated to Pontiac where they made their home and began life together. Lois' days were quickly filled with the addition of six children. In later years, Lois and Peter retired to Traverse City where she continued to be active, volunteering her time and staying involved helping others through R.S.V.P. Lois also enjoyed quilting with friends and often could express her artistic talents hand painting beautiful china dishes and dolls. Lois was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and will be remembered for her caring and humble nature by those who had the opportunity to know her.
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Peter Meagher II of Traverse City, five children, Kirby "Skip" (Janet) Meagher, Joan (Alan Reiner) Meagher Bacon, Peter (Martha) Meagher III, Kathy (Jason) Hunt and Timothy Meagher, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
