Loren Lee Fewins lifelong resident of Traverse City, passed away December 14th, 2021.
Loren was born on May 1st, 1934 to Clarence Fewins and Elsa (Van Den Dreissche). He joined Barbara (Chouinard) in marriage on June 27th, 1953 at Saint Francis Church.
Loren loved to work and often worked several jobs to ensure his wife the privilege of staying home to raise their family. Loren spent 20 years working at TC Iron Works and then went on to retire from TCAPS in 1998 after dedicating 13 years to students and staff. Loren was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, sibling, friend and co-worker. His family was everything to him. He had a heart of service by putting others first, a kind soul and was a very welcoming and generous man. He cared deeply for others. Loren was an avid fisherman and spent many hours on the bay with family and friends. He would take anyone fishing any day and at any time. Loren maintained a meticulous lawn and loved gardening. When he wasn't visiting with his family, working outside or fishing, he enjoyed playing cards, dancing with his bride, watching his children and grandchildren play sports and listening to country music.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ronald Fewins and Clare Fewins. Loren is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara; his children, Larry Fewins, Michael (Kimberly) Fewins, Ronald (Sharon) Fewins, Duane Fewins, Dennis (Tammy) Fewins, Jean (Jeffery) Popa, Karen (Matthew) Meteer, Stephen (Nicole) Fewins, 24 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and his siblings; Donald (Valerie) Fewins, Marlene (Larry) Clark, Millard Fewins, and Loretta Fewins, as well as sister-in-law, Josephine Fewins and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Loren will be held on Tuesday, December 21st, at 11:00 am with a visitation hour at 10:00 am at Saint Francis Church, 1025 S. Union St, Traverse City, MI 49684. A luncheon to celebrate his life will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to have memorial contributions made out to Hospice of Michigan, 10850 E Traverse Hwy Ste 1155 Traverse City, MI 49684 or St Francis Building Fund, 1025 S. Union St, Traverse City, MI 49684.
