Obituary

Loretta Fashbaugh McCoy Baker, passed away in the comfort of her home in Hudson, Florida on September 22, 2022.

She was born to Arthur Fashbaugh and Matilda (Rokos) Fashbaugh on December 14, 1935 in Traverse City, MI. She wants it known that she was 86 years young!

She was raised with her three siblings at her parents tourist camp, Fashbaugh's Resort, on Silver Lake in Traverse City. She would later raise her three children at the resort, giving them carefree summers of swimming and fishing.

Loretta held many long term jobs involving proof reading and computers in Traverse City and later in Chicago. Then the warmth of the sun called her to Hudson, Florida where she spent many years enjoying life with dear friends. An avid reader, and with her knowledge of current affairs, she possessed a strong stance on many subjects. She was never afraid to voice her opinion and could debate with the best. If you were persuaded her way, she would bake you one of her famous lemon meringue pies (many folded just for one!). She traveled with Doug, Sandie and Jenny for her "Trip of a lifetime" to Paris, London, and on top of her bucket-list, Stonehenge.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Jennifer Sheffer; a brother and his wife, Junior (Art) and Marcia Fashbaugh; her younger sister, Joanne Willett; her children's father, Bobby McCoy; sister-in-law, Virginia Olds Fashbaugh.

She is survived by her sons Leslie McCoy of Texas and Douglas (Sandra) McCoy of Traverse City, and a brother Donald Fashbaugh of Kingsley. She is also survived by grandchildren Kat (Alex) Radsek of Norfolk, Virginia; Sarah Sheffer (Richard) Ozdowy of Bloomfield Hills; Wyatt (Stephanie Fineout) McCoy of Northport; Cassie McCoy (Will) Holdcroft of Kapolei, Hawaii; and Buddy (Ash Smith) Sheffer of Traverse City. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Dougie, Kylie, and Peyton and nieces and nephews David and Kelly; Mike Duncan, and Valerie; Jim and Judy; and many from the Fashbaugh and Rokos families.

The family would also like to acknowledge her dear friends from Florida, Al Antone and the late Don Grindle who were as close as any "family" could be and, we thank them for their many years of care and love; the people from Country Village, and Sandy Schafstall for her caring friendship to Loretta and her readiness to help the "up north" family.

A celebration of Loretta's life will be held in the spring.

Burial to take place in Maple Grove Blair Township Cemetery.
