TRAVERSE CITY — Lorraine G. Shelton, 89, of Traverse City, formerly of Detroit, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City.Lorraine was born Feb. 5, 1922, to the late Frank and Isabell Fouchey in Detroit. In 1945, Lorraine entered into marriage with Charles M. Shelton in Detroit. He preceded her in death in 1973.Lorraine and Charles made their home in Traverse City in 1967. She was a founding member of Inland Baptist Church and enjoyed many of the activities that the Traverse City Senior Center had to offer. She was also part of the Golden Fellowship in Interlochen.Lorraine graciously acted as a caring foster mother since 1964, and could often be seen with her two girls, Chrissy and Melody.Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Mike) Hayward, of Traverse City; three sons, Charlie (Elaine) Shelton, of Wyoming, Doug (Missy) Shelton, of Buckley, and Terry (Lynn) Shelton, of Interlochen; foster daughters, Chrissy and Melody; 17 grandchildren, with several adopted grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; as well as other loving family members and friends.Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Shelton; her parents; her brother, Frank Fouchey; and her sister, Mildred Rickenbacher.Private family services took place and burial was held at Mt.
