Lorraine Ann Stein-Jereb

Traverse City - Lorraine Ann Stein-Jereb, 60, of Traverse City, died Saturday, February 9, 2013, surrounded by her husband Tony, son Patrick and her loving family.

Born June 2, 1952 in Traverse City, she was the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Clous) Stein. On May 23, 1980, she married Anthony (Tony) Raymond Jereb, from Phoenix, AZ, who survives.

A lifelong resident of Traverse City, Lorraine was employed at Munson Medical Center as a nurse for 37 years. During her tenure at Munson, Lorraine worked primarily on the post-operative surgical units and was a pioneer member of the Sentinel Node Biopsy Team for Breast Cancer. She was active in the Father Fred Foundation and had also served as a counselor at Camp Roy-El for handicapped children. She was a lifetime member of St. Francis Church and was also a member of the Elks Club in Traverse City.

Her hobbies and interests included boating, Lake Michigan sunsets, spending time with friends at Elmwood Township Marina, traveling, reading, and cooking. She especially enjoyed time spent with her husband Tony and son Patrick.

Along with her husband, Tony, Lorraine is survived by her only son, Patrick of Traverse City. She is also survived by her mother, Dorothy; two brothers, Gerald (Regina) Stein of Middleville, Kenneth (Mary) Stein of Traverse City; three sisters, Marie (Al) Zywicki of Cedar, Phyllis (Farris) Beal of Grand Rapids, and Edie (Mike) Wheaton of Interlochen; seven nephews, Jason (Kellie) Parks, Alan (Renee) Zywicki, Chris (Julie) Zywicki, Michael (Nicole) Stein, Ryan (Crystal) Stein, Branden (Jessica) Wheaton, and Josh Wheaton; three nieces, Gina (Rod) Ranger, Amy (John) Hansen, Amanda (Jared) Ringwald; several great nephews and nieces and her beloved dog, Sassie. She was preceded in death by her father.

Friends may call at St. Francis Catholic Church beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 21. The Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m., also at St. Francis with the Rev. Father Ken Stachnik serving as celebrant. At her request, cremation has taken place.
