Obituary

Lorraine Helen Zientek, 84, of Maple City, Michigan passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Boardman Lake Glens. She now rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Lorrain Olsen was born on November 9, 1938 in Empire to the late Orvald and Mary (Hoffman) Olsen. She married the love of her life, Edward Zientek on April 25, 1959 in Maple City. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2021.

Lorraine had been employed with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1998 after over 30 years of service. She has lived in the area all of her life, though she did enjoy spending her winters in Crystal River, Florida. Over the years, she has been a faithful member of both St. Rita – St. Joseph Catholic Church was well as Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Above all, spending time with her family was her greatest joy.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter; Mark (Pam) Zientek, Jan (David) Wollet and John (Krista) Zientek, grandchildren; Brandon (Sami), Nathan (Mariah) Kyle (Frances), Samuel, Benjamin (Alexa) Marli, Bradley and Joshua and great-grandchildren, Willow, Antonio and Lainey. Also surviving are a brother and a sister; William Olsen and Barbara (Ernest) Zeigler.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, an infant son, Paul Zientek, a sister, Carol Oosdyke, a brother, Jerry Olsen, two step-brothers; Don Harriger and Versel Harriger and a sister-in-law, Linda Olsen.

Friends are welcome to visit with Lorraine's family from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, Michigan 49684. The family will pray the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at St. Rita – St. Joseph Catholic Church, 8707 Hill Street, Maple City, Michigan 49664. Rev. Kenneth Stachnik will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Rita – St. Joseph Cemetery.
