Rogers, Louanne Schuette

Age 86, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 in Traverse City, MI. Louanne was born on September 27, 1930 in Saginaw, MI to the late Elmer and Mildred Schuette. Louanne married Birt L. Rogers on October 6, 1951. They had five children, Paul (Marcia) Rogers of Maple Grove, MN, Gary (Anne) Rogers of Suttons BAy, MI, Neal (Cheryl) Rogers of Birch Run, MI, Sandy (David) VanDyke of Traverse City, MI and Thomas (Rebecca Purington) Rogers of Brentwood, TN, all of whom survive her. Louanne had 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are her brothers and sisters Milford (Valerie) Schuette, Thomas (Anna Mae) Schuette, Beth (Bill) Houston, Kim Schuette, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Birt, her parents, and a brother, Dean Schuette.

Louanne was passionate about public education, serving on the Bridgeport Public Schools PTA for many years. After moving to Hemlock, she served as editor of the Hemlock and Merrill local newspapers. She also served as a regional representative for the Area Agency on Aging for the state of Michigan. Louanne loved watching birds, especially cardinals, loved to drive and had a lead foot, and enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12 Noon.

Graveside services will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Saginaw on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
