Louis Aginaga, Jr., 81, of Traverse City passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Louis was born on Friday, September 29, 1933 to the late Luis and Rose (Gonzalez) Aginaga in Rosebush, MI. He graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1952 and earned a degree in HVAC from Ferris State University, graduating in 1957. Previous to his studies at Ferris, Louis served our country as a member of the U. S. Army, serving during the Korean War era. On Saturday, Nov. 7, 1959 in Pontiac, Louis married Gail Veronica Bedard with whom he would share 40 years of love and life. They made their home and raised four children in Troy. In 1998 he retired from Temperature Engineering, and then settled in the Traverse City area.
In the year 2000, after losing Gail to cancer, Louis was blessed to meet Janice C. Baers, who also had recently lost her husband to cancer. Together they enjoyed fourteen years of travel, adventure and love.
Louis was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, the VFW, The Bowen-Holliday American Legion, as well as the Elks Lodge, the Pipe Fitters Union and was a 10 year member of the PMYC Boating Club.
Louis is survived by his daughter, Lisa (John Birgy) Minder of Kalkaska, Linda (Jeff Dittrich) Aginaga of Traverse City and Carol (Bruce) Anderson of Lake Orion; his grandchildren, Jessica, Jack and Ashley Minder, Whitney and Colton Kranz, Krystyna (William) King, Kyle Anderson and great grandchildren, Blake, Madison Sean and Brookson Minder. Louis was preceded in death by his wife, his son, Louis Francis Aginaga, his parents, his sister Mary, brother Richard, sister Ermalinda and his fiancée Janice Baers.
Louis will long be admired for his devotion to his family, kindness to friends and his determination to persevere through difficult times.
Visitation for Louis will take place from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with the Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Catholic Church at 12 noon Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 with Fr. Polycarp serving as celebrant. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Kingsley.
