Louise "Betty" Elizabeth Ruoff Louise "Betty" Elizabeth Ruoff, aged 90, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024, at Cherry Hill Haven, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on June 12, 1933, in Mancelona, MI, to the late David and Margaret (Sutter) Strauss. She embarked on a journey of love, being married to Joseph Couturier from 1951 to 1967. After parting ways, she shared her life with Perry Nink from 1970 to 1987. Following Perry's passing, Betty found love once more and married Conrad Ruoff at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Betty will be remembered for her culinary talents, particularly her pies and homemade chicken and dumplings. During her children's upbringing, Betty worked tirelessly for over three decades at J.C Penney, retiring in the 1990s. Betty found solace and community in her faith, being an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She had a zest for life, enjoying activities such as horseback riding, fishing, playing pool, tennis, gardening, and spending time with her beloved dog, Tianna. Betty is survived by her children: Roxanne Thompson, Joseph (Linda) Couturier, Rhonda (Tony) Kochevar, Randall Couturier, Pamela (Mike) Collins, Michael (Ann) Couturier, and James (Hiromi) Couturier. She is also survived by her stepsons: James Nink, Thomas (Marge) Nink, Richard (Thela) Nink, Randall Nink, and David Nink. Betty is further survived by her siblings Larry (Sandee) Strauss and David (Dollie) Strauss, sister-in-law Millie Strauss, and brothers-in-law Fred Dreves and Joe Edmonds. She leaves behind 19 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Joseph, Perry, and Conrad, her daughter Victoria Martin, son in law Michael "Tony" Martin, and her siblings Alan "Bud" Strauss, Robert Strauss, Mary Lund, Julia Dreves, and Eileen Edmonds. A Memorial Ceremony to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 3pm on Friday, April 5, 2024, with visitation held one hour prior at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Cherry Hill Haven and Hospice of Michigan for their exceptional care and support during Betty's time in their care. Their dedication and compassion made a significant difference in Betty's life and brought comfort to her and her loved ones during her final days.
