Lucile Marie Leach, 95, of Traverse City passed away peacefully in her sleep at the home of her daughter on 2026 January 6.
Born on 1930 April 20 at her family's farm in Mayfield Township on the road named for her Harrand family. Her parents were Frank J. and Mary J. (Bauer) Harrand. Her siblings were Eleanor, Baby Boy Harrand (died shortly after birth), Norman, Grace, Germaine and Paul.
Graduated valedictorian from St. Mary of Hannah School in 1948. Worked as bookkeeper at Fotchman Motors and as secretary at Michigan Milk Producers Assn.
Enjoyed numerous hobbies including bowling, crochet, bonsai, reading and traveling, especially to Hawaii. And Lawrence Welk music. Fan of Detroit Tigers and Detroit Pistons, especially the Bad Boys era team.
Volunteered for many local organizations: Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital, Munson Medical Center, Easling Pool, as a Scout Den Mother, Parish Council for Immaculate Conception Parish.
Lucile was loved and obeyed by her children, adored by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews and so many others. Her strength, resilience and stubbornness are legendary within her family.
Lucile was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and her daughter Sharon Baker and son-in-law Michael Baker.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Leach; son Steven Leach (Michele Ruman); son Stuart Leach (Annette); grandchildren Ashley Leach (Scott Wilkins), Jonathon Leach, Heather Leach (Tom Mariani), and Casey Leach Mugerian (Sean Mugerian); great-grandchildren Oswalt Wilkins, Bowden Wilkins and Frank Mugerian; brother-in-law Robert Brooks.
Many thanks to Dr. Kelly Clark at Munson Family Practice in helping to keep Mom healthy over the years. And a big bouquet of thanks to the Munson Home Health Care team, especially therapists Aubry Langlois and Tony Balogh who got her back on her feet.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, 2026 May 8 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 308 N. Cedar St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684, with visitation beginning at 10 am and the Mass at 11 am. Interment of ashes will follow at St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Cemetery.
