TRAVERSE CITY — Lucille Boesen passed away on Aug. 7, 2010, at Traverse Manor, at the age of 93. She was born in Detroit on Feb. 18, 1917, to Edwin Charles and Stella Ruth (Schafer) Betzing.Lucille was raised in Grosse Pointe Park along with her younger sisters, Jeanne and Marjorie. She always fondly remembered spending her childhood summers at the family cottage in Fair Haven. Lucille graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1934 and married her high school sweetheart, Paul Boesen in 1940. Following World War II, Lucille and Paul returned to Michigan and raised their children, Paul Jr. and Sally Anne, in Grosse Pointe Woods. After Paul's passing in 1988, Lucille relocated to Traverse City to be close to family.Lucille was a proud homemaker who actively volunteered in Grosse Pointe, Traverse City and Clearwater, Fla., where she spent many winters away from the Michigan snow.Lucille is survived by her son, Paul (Pam) Boesen, of Williamsburg; daughter, Sally Anne (Richard) Scherr, of Morrow, Ohio; beloved sister, Marjorie Baxter, of San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces, Diane (Don) Schutt and Kathleen (David Anderson) Baxter. In addition to her beloved husband, Paul, Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and dear sister, Jeanne (Walter) Schmidt.There will be a private family memorial service at a later date. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Michigan for their quality care at the end of Lucille's life and the staff of Traverse Manor for their kindness and service over the past years.Memorial donations can be directed to Traverse City Senior Center, 801 E.
