Lucille Marie Greggs

Traverse City - Lucille Greggs, 94, of Traverse City passed away October 1, 2012 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.

Lucille was born on September 21, 1918 in Detroit to the late Eugene and Ida (Gagnier) Fehner. She attended school in Detroit, graduating from Cooley High School in 1934. Her first job was a Kresge's "5 and 10" store in downtown Detroit. She then attended Comptometer School, becoming a Comptometer operator for U.S. Rubber. Her favorite hobby was and always has been sewing. She was an excellent seamstress and made all of her own clothing including suits and skirts. She made many gifts for those around her.

Lucille joined the WAC's in 1941. She became a dental hygenist in the service, and modeled WAC uniforms after the war. She married Roger Greggs while still in the Army on May 17, 1947 at the Walter Reed Hospital Chapel. Lucille and Roger returned to his hometown of Conneaut, Ohio after they served their country. They later moved to Ashtabula, Ohio. Lucille worked as a bookkeeper in Ashtabula, and they were very active in the Catholic Church. In later years, Lucille and Roger traveled south and west in their motor home. She was proud of her travels that took her to Ireland, and both of the northwest borders of the United States and Canada. After Roger's death in 1977, Lucille moved to Winter Park, Florida.

Lucille is survived by her sister Jeannette Fehner of Traverse City and her brother Eugene (Bruinhilde)Fehner of Florida.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kewadin.

Memorial contributions in memory of Lucille may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation.
