Lucille D Merchberger

Lucille 'Lucy' D. Merchberger, 97, of Traverse City and Florida, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at her daughter's home in Florida surrounded by her loving family.

Lucy was born Friday, September 5, 1919 to Alfred and Ann (Higgins) Bryan in Andalusia, AL.

Lucy lived in the Traverse City area for over 70 years. She was the manager of the Diana Shop in downtown Traverse City for several years. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church. Lucy volunteered at the Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital and Munson Walk-in Clinic and she liked to participate in activities at the Traverse City Senior Center, which is where she met the love of her life Joseph Merchberger. They were married on September 10, 1990 in Las Vegas and spent 21 wonderful years together.

Lucy is survived by her daughter Barbara (Phil) Reneaud; step-daughter Sally (Jim) Peckham; grandchildren Amy Bollman-Hahn, Troy Petroskey, James Peckham, David Peckham, Nicholas Peckham, Andrew Peckham and Katy Peckham; 15 great grandchildren; and special friends Susan Alls Herren and Elyse Ahlgrimm Adams.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Merchberger and son James Storrs.

A graveside committal will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Deacon Rene Hoenscheid will officiate.
