Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Lucille B. "Sis" Robbins, 75, of Traverse City, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at her home in Garfield Township.Lucille was born on Sept. 10, 1935, to the late Thomas and Gwendolyn (Bohrer) Strait in Garfield Township, and lived in the township her entire life. She attended the two-room Birmley School in Garfield Township, which was named after her great-grandfather, and then graduated from Traverse City High School in 1953. On Nov. 3, 1956, she married Jack Robbins at First Baptist Church in Traverse City. For 54 years they owned and operated their farm, which included the Robbins Farm Market on Cass Road. She attended First Baptist Church in her early years and most recently attended Bible Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Great Lakes Two Cylinder Club. Lucille loved being involved with and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends, and thoroughly enjoyed spending winters at Alamo, Texas.She is survived by her husband, Jack; children, Rick Robbins, Cherry Winowiecki, Randy Robbins and Dan (Pam) Robbins, all of Traverse City; her grandchildren, Brandon (Erin) Robbins, of Traverse City, Joshua (Jasmine) Winowiecki, of Mt. Home, Idaho, SSG Justin "Zack" Winowiecki, currently serving in Afghanistan, SPC Tyler (Roshni) Winowiecki, currently serving in South Korea, Taylor, Hunter, Jordan, Josie, Emily and Jenna Robbins, all of Traverse City; her great-grandchildren, Talynn Robbins, of Traverse City, Sophia G. Winowiecki and twins, Emily E. and Evangeline A. Winowiecki, all of Mt. Home, Idaho, and a great-grandson to be born in January to Tyler and Roshni. Also surviving are her brothers, Leo (Donna) Strait and Roy (Nancy) Strait, all of Traverse City; and a sister, Linda Pickard, of Grand Rapids; along with many nieces and nephews. Her parents and a brother, Edward, preceded Lucille in death.Visitation will take place on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. until noon, at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Memorial services will then begin at noon, with Pastor Tom Mansfield officiating.The family has asked that rather than flowers, Lucille be remembered through a memorial contribution to the Boardman River Nature Center, 1450 Cass Road, Traverse City, MI 49685 or online at www.gtcd.org/nature-center .
