Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Madalyn Doris Neuman, 92, of Traverse City and formerly of Grosse Pointe Woods, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, in Traverse City.Madalyn was born on Thursday, Jan. 17, 1918, to the late Robert Edwards and Norma (Tegler) Armstrong in Detroit. She married John Joseph Neuman on May 30, 1939, in Detroit, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1979.Madalyn had lived in Grosse Pointe Woods until moving to Traverse City in 2001. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Harper Woods. She enjoyed the weekly Mass offered at Hope Village in Acme, where she resided and made many friends. Madalyn enjoyed playing bridge and also gave back to her former community by working on precinct election boards and volunteering her time at BonSecour Hospital. She enjoyed working with arts and crafts. Her family was most important to her, and she enjoyed spending time with them. Madalyn is survived by her daughter, Sharon (William) Cron, of Northport; her granddaughters, Patricia (Matthew) Huhta, of Elk Rapids, and Karen Bastien, of Williamston; her grandson, William (Beth) Cron Jr., of Washington, D.C.; and her great-grandchildren, Claire and Emily Huhta, and Carter and Brady Bastien. Also surviving is her sister, Shirley Trumpe, of Calif. A time to remember Madalyn will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at Hope Village.
