TRAVERSE CITY — Richard Charles Ogren, 82, of Traverse City and formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Cherry Hill Lodge in Traverse City.Richard was born on Friday, July 5, 1929, to the late Oscar and Mary (Coleman) Ogren in Grand Rapids. He entered into marriage with the former Constance R. Royce on July 21, 1951, also in Grand Rapids.Richard served his country as an officer, retiring as a Major from the United States Air Force, honorably serving as a medical supply officer for 20 years. After traveling all over the world with his family while in the service, Richard retired from the field of duty in 1971. After retirement Richard began work as a pharmacist, working throughout the Grand Rapids area. He retired at the age of 70 after 30 years as a pharmacist in Hastings. Richard moved to the Grand Traverse area from Grand Rapids in May of 2003. He was a former member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, where he was baptized, confirmed and married. Richard will be deeply missed by a host of loving family members and friends.Richard is survived by his loving wife of nearly 61 years, Connie Ogren, of Traverse City; his daughter, Mary (Dan) Sullivan, of Grant; his son, Robert (Michelle) Ogren, of Grand Rapids; his daughters, Terry (Alex) Mickel, of Grand Rapids, and Karen "Sue" (Dan) Walters, of Traverse City; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (John) Nasstrom and Maurine Nyquist; and many other loving family members and friends.Richard was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Janet Lee Schuyler and Laura K. Hunter; one granddaughter, Amy Rose Mickel; his brothers, Russell and Robert Ogren; and one sister, Marjorie Hogan.Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, April 26, 2012, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
