Mar-Les Ann Exo Williams, 81, of Traverse City, passed away June 12, 2018 at the Munson Hospice House with her loving niece by her side.
Mar-Les was born to the late Lester and Marjorie (Selby) Exo on March 14, 1937 in Holland.
Mar-Les grew up in Holland until the age of 10 when her family moved to Traverse City.
She received her Bachelor's degree from Hope College and Extended Hours from Michigan State University. She was a member of the Kappa Gamma Society and after completing her education, she was a First grade teacher for 20 years at Glenn Loomis School. Mar-Les was a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, the Long Lake Friends Meeting for 18 years, active in the Northport Indian Mission and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Mar-Les married the man of her dreams, Richard Williams on February 15, 1976. Together they lived, loved and enjoyed each other.
Mar-Les enjoyed knitting, gardening and crafts. She was a mentor, a hero and a friend to many. Mar- Les was the true definition of fiercly independent.
Mar-Les is survived and missed dearly by her niece Ann Exo (Rick) Thompson, her nephew William Exo and her sister in law, Mary Exo.
She is preceded in death by her husband, both her parents, and Brother Daniel Exo.
A visitation will take place Tuesday June 19, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place Wednesday June 20, 2018 at 2pm at the Presbyterian Church with visitation one hour prior. Her final resting place will be at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
