Marcia Hughes

TRAVERSE CITY – Marcia J. Hughes, 78, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 peacefully at the Arbor House where she had resided for the past two years.
Marcia, an only child, was to born to parents Arthur and Marjory (Sonner) Hughes on June 11, 1940. Marcia grew up in Saginaw, attended Saginaw High and went on to study at Central Michigan University. Marcia was well traveled, having lived in New York, North Carolina, and finally settling in Traverse City, Michigan. She worked for over twenty years at I.B.M. as an administrative assistant before retiring. She found great joy in gardening, was an advocate for animals and was a voracious reader, reading anything and everything. She will be fondly remembered for her quirky sense of humor and her arm chair politics. She could be quoted as saying "Democrat born, Democrat bred, and when I die I'll be Democrat dead".
Those left to honor Marcia's memory include her daughters Michele (Marcus) Burian-Quintiliano of Harbor Springs, and Margo (Craig Rawlings) Burian of Grand Rapids. Dear friends Debbie Pahl, and Tom and Chris Gibson and her beloved and devoted cat, Virgo.
The family wishes to thank Cindy Robertson, Kyle Hamilton, the staff at Arbor House and Hospice of Michigan for the love and care Marcia received during her time at Arbor House.
