Margaret (Marmie) Ann Dennis passed away peacefully on April 16th, 2023, at Bay Ridge Assisted Living facility in Traverse City. Marmie was born in Detroit on May 25, 1933, moved to Marquette for her childhood, and was a resident of Michigan her entire life. As a University of Michigan graduate, she had a successful career as a social worker in the Bloomfield Hills Schools. Marmie married the love of her life, Donald Dennis, in 1960. She and Don enjoyed their home on Old Mission Peninsula, which they owned for over fifty years. In retirement, Marmie and Don divided their time between Traverse City and Venice, Florida, where they remained active playing golf. Marmie and Don also traveled extensively over their years, including adventurous trips that circled the globe, with stops in several developing countries. Marmie's activities were more limited after a stroke in 2005 but until recently she continued to travel between Michigan and Florida. Marmie also enjoyed spending time with her many nieces and nephews, and she will be very much missed by her surviving relatives. She was a sharp, kind, and overall wonderful lady loved by everyone who knew her. The family wishes to express gratitude to Bay Ridge Assisted living, Hospice of Michigan, and other caregivers in Marmie's life. In particular, Gwen Wyman was extremely dedicated to Marmie in recent years and made sure Marmie got out for regular excursions in the Traverse City area. Marmie is proceeded in death by her husband Don, and her brother Julius Herbert Petersen.
