Traverse City - Margaret J. Goleniak, 91, of Traverse City passed away April 6, 2014 at Munson Medical Center.
Margaret was born on June 28, 1922 in Detroit, the oldest of six children, to the late Cornelius Peter and Theresa (Czeczewski) Eversdyke.
Margaret graduated from Mackenzie High School in Detroit in 1941.
On July 18, 1944 Margaret married the late Thaddeus "Ted" J.Goleniak in Detroit where they made their home. After Ted's retirement in 1981, they moved to Traverse City, a place she loved to call home.
Margaret was a devout member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In her spare time she enjoyed crafting, crocheting and knitting. She also was an excellent baker and liked to make cookies. Margaret was also active with the senior center and the varitey club at church.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Phyllis (Robert) MacTavish, Kathleen (Terry) Brown, and Cynthia (Richard) McDermott, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, parents, and siblings Marie VonBergen, Elizabeth Eversdyke, Sylvia Mund, Beatrice Kasper and Edward Eversdyke.
Burial will take place in the summer at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
