TRAVERSE CITY — Margaret Ann Knoff, 85, of Traverse City, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, April 11, 2011, at Orchard Creek Supportive Care.Margaret was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Detroit, to the late Francis J. and Ethel B. (Hudson) Graessle. She married the late Richard J. Knoff on June 19, 1948, also in Detroit. Together they had seven children.Margaret was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She was a wonderful entertainer, always striving to have the best meals prepared for her family and guests. She was a dedicated member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She also was a gifted quilter and the quilts she made for her family will always be treasured.Margaret is survived by her children, Kathryn (Frederick) Bechtold, John (Eva) Knoff, Sally Panci, Michael (Kathleen) Knoff, Dennis (Suzanne) Knoff and Mark Knoff; 16 grandchildren; her siblings, Kathryn (Al) Manziara, Barbara (Howard) Whitehouse, Mary Lou (Stephen) Laske; a sister-in-law Frances Graessle; and several nieces and nephews.Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, daughter Mary Elizabeth Knoff, brothers Francis and James, and sisters Lillian Wright and Ethel Nault.A memorial Mass will take place for Margaret at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a visitation held one hour prior. The Rev. Anthony Citro will serve as presider.
